FAQ

Optical

What products should Purosol Optical be used on?

Purosol Optical is ideal for cleaning all coated lenses and optical devices including eyewear, cameras, binoculars, microscopes, telescopes and gun sights without harming the lens surface. Unlike solvents and other harsh cleaning agents, Purosol cleans at the molecular level without the use of toxic solvents or detergents.

How should Purosol Optical be applied?

Blow any sand or dust off the lens. Gently spray a small amount of solution onto a Purosol Microfiber Cloth or directly to the lens surface and gently wipe clean. For typical use, a single application will be sufficient. For extreme dirt or grime a second application may be necessary.

How is Purosol Optical different from other cleaners?

Purosol’s proprietary formula cleans with state-of-the-art enzyme technology, which causes a disruption of the bonding molecules which hold dirt, salt, oil and grime to the lens surface without disturbing the lens coating or surface. Traditional solvent-based cleaners strip the lens bare, damaging (and eventually destroying) sensitive lens coatings.

Can Purosol Optical be applied with any applicator?

Choosing the appropriate applicator is important in cleaning optical lens surfaces. A rough texture or dirty cloth or tissue applicator can scratch lens surfaces. The applicator should also be free of lint and not be impregnated with other solutions or chemicals. Purosol ultra-fine Microfiber Cloths are specifically designed with advanced fabric and weave configurations designed for maximum absorbency, while maintaining a soft, lint-free surface.

Is Purosol Optical environmentally safe to use?

All Purosol products are based on their proprietary enzyme technology and do not use solvents of any kind. The Purosol brand of all natural products are totally non-toxic, environmentally safe, biodegradable, hyper-allergenic and contains no ammonia, alcohol, detergents, or other harmful chemicals.

Can I also use conventional cleaners?

Virtually all conventional cleaners contain some form of solvent or cleaning agent which can be harmful to a lens surface, the environment and even people with sensitivities or allergies to solvent based chemicals. It is not recommended to use solvent-based cleaners on coated lens or optical devices because of the damage they can cause to lens coatings.

Is Purosol economical to use?

Purosol Optical is manufactured in a clean room laboratory in small batches using a multi-phase sterile process to complete the chemical compositions and insure quality control. If compared to simple solvent-based conventional cleaners it may be considered more expensive. If compared to the protection it provides to valuable lens surfaces and providing a cleaner environment Purosol’s price is a bargain

How long does Purosol Optical last?

The time between cleaning depends on several factors including the environment the lens is exposed to, the type and use of the lens, as well as the habits of the user. Only a small amount of solution and single application is required for normal use. While these are not specific guidelines, a single 2-ounce bottle can last several months with normal use.

Does Purosol Optical provide protection after it’s applied?

As part of its unique formula, Purosol Optical neutralizes the molecular charges on the lens surface, which normally attracts dust and dirt particles, thereby extending the life of the cleaning. While this effect diminishes over time, the particles which do come to rest on the lens can be easily repelled by blowing or wiping (without the solution) following a recent cleaning. Without having to clean as frequently, the lens surface remains protected longer and the life of the solution is extended.
